After the Dominion E & P sale, I am now working for Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. (March 2008) which is a Houston based-based energy company engaged in exploration, development, exploitation and production of oil and natural gas primarily in proven trends in the Barnett Shale area in North Texas and along the onshore Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast regions. It is also engaged in exploration and development in the U.K. North Sea. I do enjoy working here very much as the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and feel as though I have worked here for years.
I have stayed in contact with many of my friends and former LL&Ers and I must say that I miss being around them and still consider LL&E to be the “ONE of a Kind” place I ever worked for. Hello everyone, I hope all are doing well.
I've been working for Crescent Bank & Trust now for 9 years. It's hard to believe how fast the years are flying by. The Bank made the decision to outsource our Mainframe computer operations before year's end. This means I'll be moving into other areas of the IT department like Help Desk, Desk Top Support & IT Communications. I'm thinking about going into a completely different area one of which is outside of the IT department an area called "Retirement". I'll be 60 this August and to tell the truth I'm just tired of working. Guess we'll just play it by ear for the next few months to see how things go.

From Wayne: Adolph Lewis died of a heart attack 1-11-04. He was 69 years old. I talked to him about a month ago and he told me that he had never been in an hospital until he was 66 yr old than he fell apart. We are all getting to the age that we should not put off plans to get together.

Rhoda and I moved to Hattiesburg in April, 2008 from Canton, Ohio where I was a consultant for the last 9 years . We decided it was time to get closer to family and out of the snow. After leaving LL&E in the RIF of 1988 I have alternately consulted or worked as an exploration manager for several companies in the Northeast US. We have lived in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. I presently consult for a select group of clients, mostly in the northeast US.
All the family is well. Elizabeth is an attorney, lives in Metairie, and clerks for an appellate court judge in Gretna. She is married to an attorney and has two daughters, age 6 and 4. Unlike our other children they will never move so this had a lot to do with our choice of relocation. Sandra is an RN married to a Navy chaplain so they move a lot. They have a daughter age 4. David is a subsea controls engineer for Shell and will soon be returning to the US from the UK. He has a son, age 6, and a daughter, age 4. Rhoda stays very busy quilting and taking care of me. I fly as much as possible and hope the MS climate is better for that than OH.
The 14 years I spent with LL&E were the most enjoyable of my career. Working in the old geophysics department under J. O. Banks may have been the best job in the industry. When we realigned into regional groups LL&E was still the company everyone wanted to work for. I found out about this website just before we moved from my secretary in Oklahoma City, Julie Collings nee Freeman. I have enjoyed very much the opportunity to learn what people have been up to. Keep the card and letters and emails coming!!

Family will greet friends from 6pm-8pm Friday, March 7, 2008 at the funeral home. Mr. Matthews was born on June 25, 1934 to Miles D. and Maggie Mae (Gaines) Matthews in Konawa, OK. He grew up and attended school in the Oklahoma City and Perry area later marrying Margaret Marie Beier on August 27, 1954 in the Zion Lutheran Church. Mr. Matthews graduated from Oklahoma University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering. His career spanned 40 years of oilfield service with companies which included Chevron, Louisiana Land & Exploration, and Computalog. Gene was very involved in the Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries Inc. in Louisiana , which included 10 years on the board of directors in various capacities helping people with disabilities build better lives. His hobbies included; cub scouts, coaching little league and was an avid OU fan. The highlights of his life were his family and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchild. Mr. Matthews passed from this life to be with his Lord and Savior on March 2, 2008 in Perry, OK. Russell Don Nash passed away at his home on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the age of 72, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Russ was the beloved husband of Joycelyn Lambert Nash for 29 years, loving father of Russell Kevin Nash of Jefferson, LA; Lacy Nash Elliott and her husband Kearby of Grand Saline, TX; Jeffrey Michael Florio and wife Andrea of Birmingham, AL and proud grandfather of Kolby, Kirk, Clara and Keeley Elliott and Baileigh and Emily Florio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren Russell Nash and Clara Holt Nash. He is survived by his siblings: G. Annette Nash Wells, Michael H. Nash and Amber Arlowe Nash, and many nieces and nephews. A native of Oklahoma, Russ was a graduate of Pawhuska High School and Oklahoma A&M/Oklahoma State University. He began his career as a geophysicist with Amoco and retired from The Louisiana Land and Exploration Company. He was a lifetime member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He was President of the Southeastern Geophysical Society and served on the Board of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. Until his illness, he served on the board of The Greater Mandeville Seafood Festival. He was a kind, loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all. Families and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life to be held at St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville, LA on Monday, the 16th of June at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Abbey, 75376 River Road, Saint Benedict, LA 70457. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials to be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at 39 Starbrush Circle, Covington, LA 70433; Hospice of St. Tammany at 4410 Hwy 22, Mandeville, LA 70471; or to the Building Fund for the New Church at St. Anselm, 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447. As the ancient Chinese proverb (or curse) goes, we do live in "Interesting times". My son Julien is now entering 8th grade and Daugther Jessie is a 1st grader. I will be glad to have two such fine kids to care for me in my later years. Which due to them are probably right around the corner. I just can't wait until next year to receive my AARP membership!

As of this writing sitting in Jakarta Indonesia working on a transaction for a client. Using consulting time to fill in with retirement. Oldest son is architect in Dallas and youngest son is a financial planning in Houston. Try to stay in contact with several LL&E people and hired two at Harvest (Judy Herrle and Jeff LaMotte) and outsourced accounting to Mike Thompson and Michelle Wichers. Still go with the folks I trusted and respected at LL&E. Used several LL&E alumni in my Harvest tenure - Russ Hawkins, Jim Luther and advice from C.A. Zackary, Jim Idiaquez, Rhonda Motley and Kandy Lee and many others. Truly LL&E had a respected and fantastic group.

Boy, a lot has happened since my last update in Oct 2000. Wife Shannon died in Sept 2006 from breast cancer. I have her three adult children plus my three, and now have eight grandchildren collectively. I am Contracts Mgr, kinda like land/negotiations mgr plus legal etc duties, at CMI in the Energy Corridor. CMI is offshore E&P only, Gulf of Mexico and North Sea and expanding to W Africa and other international areas. Our parent co GlobalSantaFe (formerly Global Marine) merged with Transocean under the latter name in Nov 2007. I have had the opportunity to see the UK a lot, and took Shannon to Scotland once several yrs before she died. I still stay in touch with Marc Helsinger, Mike Brennan, Joe McGee, Jerry Weaver, Terry Callahan and Jo Keller. Jo’s husband Bill recently died, and I will encourage her to do a post here with her contact info. My office number is 281-925-7216 and home 832-230-8029 in Lakes on Eldridge North. Where does the time go? I've been here in Houston a year. Work has been interesting. Victoria has become our "Karate Kid". Thomas is still working on our house in between his working on other people's houses. Our biggest news is that Thomas received a lottery slot to participate in the World Championship Ironman in Hawaii on October 23rd. I guess I'll have to figure out how that I'm going to be on a plane (flying) for 12 hours. They may have knock me out. I still keep in touch with Mike DeBlanc, Judy Salvaggio, and can you believe it, Ed Veith and Linda Noble are just a couple of doors from my office. We go to StarBucks at least twice a week. It's great to read about those who have taken time to write about how their lives have changed since LL&E. So keep in touch.

OELKING Amos John Oelking, Jr. passed away at his home on July 1, 2007 at the age of 62, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Amos was the beloved husband of Marie Celeste Bordelon Oelking for 40 years, loving father of Amos III and his wife Kendie and Matthew and his wife Michele and proud grandfather of Tyler and Brooke Oelking. He was preceded in death by his parents Amos Oelking, Sr., Audreta Lauricella Oelking and step-mother Rita Oelking. He is survived by his sisters Audreta O. Richardson and Rebecca O. Goostrey, step-brother Raymond Oelking, many nieces, nephews, godchildren and devoted friends Ray and Terry Hollingsworth. Amos was a graduate of Chalmette High School and the University of New Orleans. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Peat Marwick Mitchell and retired from The Louisiana Land and Exploration Company as Manager of Financial Reporting. He was always generous in sharing his time, talents and treasures. He was an active member of St. Anselm Catholic Church and served as a member of the Finance Council for many years; he was presented the St. Louis Medallion from the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 2006. He served nine years as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Tchefuncta Club Estates in Covington and most recently on the Board of Directors of Whippoorwill Grove Subdivision in Bush. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Anselm Church in Madisonville on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at noon. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Abbey. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting Masses or memorials to be made to the Building Fund for the New Church at St. Anselm, 306 St. Mary Street, Madisonville, LA 70447. Schoen Funeral Home of Covington is in charge of arrangements.

To those who expressed their support, the lawsuit is over. The issues between the parties have been resolved.
I AM VERY HAPPY!
After over four years of enjoyment in founding Energy Partners, Ltd., I am now retired to live a more sane life. The experience is one I will never forget. My best wishes to the remaining officers and staff who now have the burden of improving on our track record of rapid growth and feverish efforts to come up to speed in this complicated business. My best memories are those of the early struggling years where we brought our own computers from home, changed offices as we grew, and pushed to get in front of major oil companies to get their trust and confidence.
I won't forget the months without pay, the nights without sleep and the offices without employees to contribute to the effort. I won't forget the great group of people who expressed their confidence in us by betting their futures on us by coming to work every day. I had always hoped that EPL wound be the baby that LL&E bore, that it would grow up and prosper like its parent had.
Now that EPL is established, recognized in New Orleans and beyond, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, and continuing to grow, I think my wish has been realized.
I an not eager to put my feet up and watch Oprah, I will try to stay active, and who knows, maybe another great opportunity will come along to catch my fancy.

The house in the parish is history, thanks to my interior decorator...Katrina. 12'+ water standing for 2 weeks! I think many of us used the same decorator! Needless to say not much left....but it's only stuff. Thank goodness we are all safe. My mom lived in the Gentilly area and lost everything as well. She is now living in Orlando, with my sister. We evacuated to Houston and I worked out of EPL's Houston office for 4 months. We lived in the Woodlands and Carly attended the new Woodlands College Park High School. Back in EPL's New Orleans office. Moving to an apartment, uptown. We'll be Uptown Girls! Just trying to adjust to life post-Katrina and cherishing all the pre-K memories.

Hi Everyone! We (Rod & I et al) moved back to Slidell, LA from Texas Jan 2005 just in time for the Katrina disaster. We were very lucky and suffered no damage per se. I am still retired from the working world. Every now and then I run into old LL&E friends, seems like in the strangest places. I’ve been traveling abroad which always puts a smile on my face. My children: Caitlin is working/living in Baton Rouge. She works for an oil related company and every now and then deals with old LL&E leases. Maureen is engaged to be married this coming October, she is still in college (long-term plan) and works part-time. Kevin is a freshman at Northshore High and is doing exceptionally well – hoping for a doctor in the family. I wish all of you out there the very best. What great memories we all have!!!!!

We've moved 3 times since retiring from LL&E in January, 1998. Now settled in Bentwater on Lake Conroe(North of Houston)and enjoying golf and visiting the grandkids! Also enjoy keeping up (via fllee) with all the LL&E folks who have now scattered to the four winds. Have not worked since leaving LL&E but would like to do lease records work on contract basis in North Houston area - if anyone has a lead, let me know.
